From the bride: We picked our venue as it was a half-way point for our two families and because of a soft spot for Limerick as it’s where we both went to college, although at different times and before we met! We have lots of friends living in Limerick and we’re regular visitors. We were looking for a country venue, a relaxed place with lots of old world charm and a quaint village feel. Other considerations were finding somewhere our guests could stay over and not have too far to travel. We wanted our families, particularly our mums to be able to relax and staying in a hotel for the weekend meant they were all on ‘holiday’ and really able to enjoy themselves! Plus we got the hotel exclusively to ourselves.
What was your style for the day?
Old world with a relaxed bohemian vibe. My mum picked my dress and when I put it on with the cap veil, I knew it was the one. I think it was the veil I loved the most – I didn’t want to take it off!
What were your highlights?
We were pretty relaxed about the day. We arrived in the hotel the night before and enjoyed a few drinks with close friends and our families. On the morning of the wedding we met up and exchanged gifts, and then went for a late breakfast in the hotel. (I had my makeup, and hair done at that stage and the hairdresser already had fixed my veil on so I’m sure I looked bit of a sight in the breakfast room!) We had a first look picture too – it really relaxed us both so we could just enjoy the ceremony and the entire day with absolutely no nerves. We laughed our way through the ceremony.
