Two of the cutest flower girls I’ve ever seen, a grey colour scheme and Druids Glen are just some of the reasons today’s wedding is stand out beautiful! Thankfully it’s all been captured perfectly by Ebony & Pearl AND Cinematic Tide for us to drool over. Amy & Eric make a wonderful, fun couple and Amy’s given so much detail behind their inspiration for all you planning bride’s, it’s a must read.

Make sure you treat yourself to this clip of Amy & Eric’s video from Cinematic Tide. Amazing from start to finish!

From the bride: Eric and I are not your average couple, we are very adventurous and independent. We met in 2003 and started dating in the April, it was exactly ten years since our first date to the day we got married. We are still the same now as we were back then, two crazy kids who love to laugh and are the best of friends.

Their Story

Eric is a quiet and very nonchalant type, I am a very bubbly, excitable and chatty person so we work well together. We’re both super ambitious perfectionists in our lives. We are joined in our love for cars and Motorsport, my dad was a professional racing driver so I have always been around cars and Eric loved modified and high performance cars.

Eric is a professional driver in drift racing and I do some amateur stuff and track days, I’ve competed in other Motorsport races before drifting. Eric also rides freestyle BMX and I have dabbled in modelling and promotions over the years. Over the years we have traveled to many places for Eric to compete in racing, but in January 2010 he got the opportunity to move to the USA to sign to a new team and work for them full time living there, so Eric went and I visited. Last year while visiting, we were in New York for a weekend break when on a rooftop garden in Chelsea NYC, Eric said I have a question to ask you, I was in total shock and said, “Oh My God! Are you serious?????”. That wasn’t the answer he was expecting! It’s funny looking back now.

He came home last year for a long weekend at the end of May and we told everyone, had an engagement party and picked the venue all in the space of three days! We are all go-go-go in our lives, we never stop! Needless to say I planned the wedding solo, while Eric lived in New Jersey 3500 miles away. It was not easy but we got through.

The Inspiration

Our theme was New York, because of the romantic connection and our love for the city also. My own family are real party animals, there is just me and my sister, and mom and dad – but even at that we love any excuse for a party, so we went all out for every aspect of the wedding of course.

I cringe at the usual, tacky wedding stuff and I had an image of how I wanted the whole day to look. I wanted it to be cool and original to reflect our personality as a couple and to be about celebrating our special day.

My favourite colour is grey, so the colour scheme was white and grey, which I felt was chic and fresh from the norm wedding colours. I had the girls bridesmaids dresses made, which was probably the hardest thing to agree on. Our flower girls are daughters of Eric’s friend and team boss, they are very close and important people to us., We love the two girls and it seemed perfect to have them as part of our day as they have played an important role in our lives.

The Venue

We had very large guest numbers so a lot of places I researched I could not cater for a larger party, I narrowed it down to two places and set up appointments for the weekend Eric was here to view; Powerscourt House and Druids Glen. We went with Druids Glen as it had so many aspects we loved. I like to think that I cover and think of every aspect of a party or event I am involved in. As I said I am a major perfectionist so it has to be right. Everything about Druids Glen appealed to me, the beautiful drive down there, their scenery, the drive in, the entrance, the rooms, the grounds, it’s just perfect!

The Photography & Videography Search

It also took me some time to find photographers, I looked at probably a hundred (I’m not joking), again we wanted a natural, abstract feel for the photography on the day. I met with a few but Ebony & Pearl were perfect. Originally Eric did not want a video and was dead against it, after seeing some horrific, awkward wedding videos that were hours long, he set a criteria to find a person that could make a video that was a perfectly edited over view of the day, that was In between a Drift or BMX style video, i.e fast paced and abstract highlights of the day, and it worked out, we are delighted with the result.

DIY Wedding Touches

For the church my mom did all of the flowers, as you will see I DIY’d a lot of the day, I made the church decorations and booklets, I also did the bridesmaids hair and my own hair and make up. My family are practicing Catholics which is unusual nowadays I know, so the church was important to me, after all it is the most important part of the wedding day, so Eric left it to me to pick the singers, the readings and the songs, I picked songs and readings that meant something and reflected us together.

I styled the music, and decor to the theme, and our invitation was a little different also. Tables were named after the New York districts, and I got mini champagne glasses made up, with the NYC skyline on them and also “Amy & Eric” with the date on them for each person, I added a swing tag with each persons name to each glass, the swing tag had the persons name on one side with the table/district name on the other side for the seating plan, the tags were of course, white and silver grey! A little something different!

At each place setting I also had a mini bag of apple drops with a tag saying “A small taste of the Big Apple” on the, and our names and date also. We had a photo booth also, which was a great success and I did bathroom baskets for the boys and girls bathrooms’, complete with flip flops.

Our band were amazing, I saw them on a show called The Story of Motown which I went to with my mom and aunts, we loved them and they were the first thing we booked, they were a little more then budgeted but well worth it, the dance floor was filled from the first song all night.
