From the bride: Being a January wedding my biggest concern was the weather. I was having nightmares that we would get a ‘stinker’ of a day and was constantly checking the long range forecast. We were fortunate in the end that it was a beautiful day and our guests could enjoy the ceremony in relative comfort.
We searched high and low for a suitable ceremony venue and just when we thought we were getting nowhere, we had the idea to try the chapel at my old high school. I had forgotten the unique charms of the beautiful little chapel. In hindsight it was an obvious choice. What made the ceremony extra special was that we had a boys choir, many of whom I had taught in myYear 4/5 class, sing the songs for our wedding. A very close friend, who I teach with, expertly prepared the boys to sing so beautifully – I will always be very thankful to her.
For our reception, we wanted a venue with a view as well as being the perfect size for our number of guests. After researching and viewing so many different venues, it was a relief when we walked into Matilda Bay and realised that this was the perfect venue for us. The menu was extensive, with so many delicious options to choose from. A real highlight for us was the amazing floral arrangements. A friend of the family worked through the night in my parent’s garage to ensure that the room looked magnificent.
It was a rare opportunity to have all of our closest friends and family together at once and our guests had a wonderful time dancing thenight away!
We both had such a great time, and like everyone says, it goes so fast!
